Hitting the Road
Last weekend, I was able to take off with our family photographer Emily Andrews and her fiancé Alex Jones to Tulsa, OK for their Engagement Session.
It's always nerve-wracking photographing another photographer, but even more so when it's a photographer on your own team.
We set out from Oklahoma City in hopes of finding a new urban environment we could explore. The goal? Create images that focus on the couple, not a game for their friends and family of "where did they shoot this" and naming off spots in OKC.
Our first stop was to Fair Fellow Coffee.
After we recouped our energy with a sufficient amount of caffeine, we set out to explore T-Town.
We started by exploring the immediate area around the coffee shop. A dinner theater with an old neon side caught our eye. So did the restaurants, new retail spaces going up, and the murals that lined the alleys.
Eventually we got back in our car and began to drive around, making circles around the city as we juggled rough location recommendations from friends and our GPS apps on our phones.
It was a great time getting to talk with Alex and Emily about their summer plans, as Alex continues to build his music career as a singer and keyboardist, and as Emily builds her cliental as a photographer. But even more so, seeing this artistic couple support each other.
From the support they show by allowing each other the room to pursue their craft, or how they come together to listen as they bounce ideas off each other; it was really amazing to see how dynamic their relationship works with their passions.
Thank you Alex and Emily for the amazing pizza, laughs, and memories from the session! So excited for you two and can't wait for the big day to roll around in September!
